Regarding “What’s Killing Our Great Restaurants?” by Laurie Ochoa and Ruth Reichl (Oct. 18):
Ask me and thousands of other restaurant patrons in this town if we really care if the “best” restaurants of L.A. are going out of business. The time has come when the general public’s dollar has spoken, and we have chosen not to spend $100 on dinner. We’re tired of being treated like second-rate citizens when we call to make (beg for) a reservation on Saturday nights.
It’s your fault that you’ve promoted “fine dining” as a night on the town with a $100 price tag. As far as the guy who boasted about spending $2,000 in 10 days for eating, he’s an idiot who should be committed unless he got to write it off with the IRS; then he should be arrested.
Like everything else in life today, value is where it’s at--we want good food and value forour money.
Who cares whether L.A.’s restaurants make France’s Michelin Guide? There are great restaurants in L.A. for less than $50 for two.
