SANTA CLARITA : Veterans’ Memorial to Be Dedicated
- Share via
Dedication ceremonies for the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial--a 25-foot-long, 12-foot-high wall inscribed with veterans’ names and patterned after the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington--will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall.
The first 53 names were inscribed upon one of the wall’s black granite panels in September and 25 names will be added Sunday, said Morris V. Deason, a director of the Santa Clarita Valley Memorial Committee Inc., a nonprofit organization that built the memorial with private donations.
The name of any veteran who has been honorably discharged or who died while serving the nation may be inscribed, Deason said. A $125 fee is charged for engraving, he said.
Admission to the ceremonies will be free, but seating is limited, Deason said.
