‘Murphy’ Took Precautions

We would like to address Cynthia O’Brien’s concern that “Murphy Brown” (CBS) and her new baby be tested for HIV (TV Times, Oct. 25). Apparently, Ms. O’Brien missed the first episode of the 1991-92 season in which Murphy announces to her colleagues that she and her ex-husband, Jake, had, in fact, taken blood tests to check for the virus. We agree with Ms. O’Brien that casual sex in the age of AIDS is a serious matter and that is why the above information was included in our story line.
