Plans for Subic Bay Industrial Park Drafted: Taiwan has drafted plans for a $41-million industrial park at the former U.S. naval base at Subic Bay, the semiofficial Central News Agency reported. Construction of the 740-acre park would take three years, according to Sinotech Engineering Consultants of Taiwan. Electronics, textile and other companies would be invited to establish factories. Taipei agreed with Manila earlier this year to help turn the huge base at Subic, which was handed back to the Philippines in September, into a free port and industrial zone.
