Sara Lee Corp. Wants to Buy BP Food Unit: The Chicago-based consumer products company said it is negotiating to buy BP Nutrition, the consumer food unit of British Petroleum Co. The BP division, which had sales last year of $340 million, sells packaged meat products such as cooked sausage, salami and ham. Its brands include Stegeman & Boers in the Netherlands, Dacor in Belgium, Argal in Spain and Nobre in Portugal. It employs 2,300 people. The two companies said they expect to reach agreement by year-end.
