U2 Has Something to Sing About; Tour Take Tops $63-Million Mark

U2’s Zoo TV tour took in a whopping $63.8 million (for 67 shows, including one this month at Anaheim Stadium), the most that any pop group has made through concert bookings so far this year, according to estimates from the trade magazine Performance.
Metallica was the second highest-grossing band with $32.3 million for 53 shows. Guns N’ Roses was third with $29.1 million for 36 shows, and next was the Grateful Dead with $27 million for 45 shows. Neil Diamond ranked No. 5 with $25.8 million for 63 shows. Other than U2, none of those acts played Orange County this year.
