Robert L. Gollings; Ex-CHP Captain, Worked for State Dept.

Robert L. Gollings, 82, a retired California Highway Patrol captain who commanded the CHP Department of Research and later patrol offices in Sacramento and San Bernardino. He retired in 1965 to become the State Department’s public safety adviser in South Vietnam, where he wrote a vehicle code for the Vietnamese Department of Public Works. At the end of the war in 1975 he moved to Carlsbad, Calif., where he died Nov. 18.
