ROUNDUP : Record 3-Point Night for Jacobsen

Adam Jacobsen of Crescenta Valley High scored a game-high 26 points and took over sole possession of the Southern Section all-time three-point field goal record to lead the Falcons to a 71-51 victory over St. Francis in a first-round game of the Burbank-Hoover boys’ basketball tournament at Burbank High on Wednesday.

Jacobsen, a senior transfer from Glendora High, made three three-point shots to give him 291 for his career. He and Steve Clover of Rolling Hills (1988-90) were tied with 288 entering this season.

In other boys’ basketball games:

North Hollywood 74, Santa Clara 54--Damon Ollie scored 20 points to lead the Huskies in the second round of the Simi Valley tournament. Ollie has scored 67 points in three games.

The Huskies (3-0) are ranked third in The Times’ poll. Santa Clara (1-1), which has won four consecutive Southern Section titles, was held to nine points in the first quarter and fell behind by 27 after three quarters.

The Saints were led by senior Brian Clark, who scored 15.

Campbell Hall 77, Taft 68--C.J. Thompkins made four three-point shots and scored 22 points to lead the Vikings (1-1) to a consolation-round victory in the Simi Valley tournament. Alex Lopez, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound junior, blocked six shots for Campbell Hall.

Simi Valley 66, Alemany 53--Ryan Briggs scored 15 points and dished out six assists to lead Simi Valley (2-0) to a victory in the second round of the Simi Valley tournament. Briggs sealed the win by making seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter.

Burbank 67, John Marshall 47--Tyson Helsley scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Burbank (1-0) in a first round game of the Burbank-Hoover tournament.

The Barristers (2-1) trailed only 44-40 after three quarters, but Burbank’s Mike Jonas scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to break the game open.

Village Christian 87, Bishop Diego 31--Senior David Fennell scored a personal-high 35 points to lead the Crusaders in the consolation round of the Faith Baptist tournament.

Gonzaga Prep (Seattle) 62, Buena 58--Buena erased a 14-point third-quarter deficit to lead, 56-55, with under two minutes to play, but Gonzaga (1-0) rallied in a first-round game of the Loyola tournament.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cal State San Bernardino 106, The Master’s 90--Andy Thompson scored 32 points and Emeka Okenwa scored 28 for the Mustangs. The Master’s trailed only, 44-42, at halftime, but was outscored, 62-48, in the second half.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 54, Keppel 47--The visiting Bulldogs (1-0) outscored the Aztecs, 17-6, in the third quarter to key their nonleague victory.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Chatsworth 15, Birmingham 0--Sherri McKnight scored four goals and teammate Beck Andrews added three as Chatsworth (6-0, 6-0 in league play) rolled to the Valley Conference win at Birmingham.
