TOUCHDOWN, GARTH?: Garth Brooks is rumored to be the headliner on a National Football League-sponsored concert in Los Angeles on the eve of the Jan. 31 Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl. Among the sites that have been discussed for the concert are Dodger Stadium, Universal Amphitheatre and the Forum.

Bob Smith, vice president of Dodger Stadium operations, confirms that a Super Bowl eve show with Brooks is definitely being planned--likely a low-price-ticket benefit for efforts to rebuild L.A. There is also speculation that it might be an invitation-only affair. Representatives of Brooks, the Forum and NFL had no comment.

Dodger Stadium, meanwhile, has also been mentioned as a stop on a tentative Brooks stadium tour next summer--the first stadium tour ever for a country performer. Brooks’ management office would neither confirm nor deny the reports.
