GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Shot in Final Seconds Gives Kennedy Edge

Damia Williams made the game-winning basket with seven seconds remaining to lift Kennedy to a 44-43 victory over Santiago in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Friday night at Santiago High.
Lynly Matsumoto had 16 points and nine assists, and Leslie Prochaska had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Kennedy (13-4, 6-1 in league), which remained in second place in league.
America Robledo had 14 points and eight assists and Rachel Matemate had nine points and eight rebounds for host Santiago (11-5, 4-3).
In other Garden Grove League games:
La Quinta 43, Bolsa Grande 24--Freshman Ronnie Gondringer scored 14 points for host La Quinta (10-5, 3-4). Teammate Linda Rodriguez had 12 points and 15 rebounds. Bolsa Grande drops to 5-12, 1-6.
Rancho Alamitos 55, Los Amigos 18--Akilah Rodgers had 27 points to lead visiting Rancho Alamitos (7-0 in league).
In the Olympic League:
Valley Christian 65, Orange Lutheran 45--Kristin Weddick had 13 points and Michelle Hines had 12 points for Orange Lutheran (9-7, 3-2).
