Put Another Pizza in the Juke Box
When bowlers at Southern Bowl in Greenwood, Ind., start craving a hot slice of pepperoni pizza, they don’t look for a telephone--they look for a vending machine.
For about $2, the American Pizza Kitchen will heat up a six-inch pepperoni or deluxe pizza in three minutes.
Southern Bowl was chosen as one of about 1,000 places nationwide where the machine will be tested. It was created by Pacific Bay Technologies Inc., a Canadian company.
The American Pizza Kitchen is about the size of an ordinary snack machine. Frozen pizzas are stacked on a carousel similar to the way records are placed in a jukebox. When a pizza is ordered, it is lifted into the oven to be heated and then dispensed.
