Channel Islands’ Hotchkiss Returns

Channel Islands High basketball standout Shawanda Hotchkiss, who collapsed twice last week with severe abdominal pains in a game against Thousand Oaks, returned to the Raiders on Thursday night against Westlake after receiving medical clearance.
Tests by doctors showed Hotchkiss had suffered from “a combination of muscle spasms and stomach cramps,” Coach Ryle Lynch-Cole said.
Hotchkiss, averaging 18 points, six assists and five rebounds, played four minutes and scored six points in the Raiders’ 46-40 Marmonte League victory.
“She didn’t feel so well after the game,” Lynch-Cole said. “She was a little winded and has a touch of the flu.”
