The 70-year-old owner of the Southside Social Club died after he was beaten and robbed at his Watts business Wednesday afternoon, Los Angeles police said.
“The business was thoroughly ransacked, but we haven’t been able to determine what was taken,” said Sgt. Tony Lomedico.
Police would not release the name of the victim pending notification of relatives. He died shortly after he was taken from the club, in the 10500 block of San Pedro Street, to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, authorities said.
