A former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy Friday was sentenced to 14 years in prison for raping or sexually assaulting three women after making routine traffic stops and threatening to arrest them if they did not comply with his demands.
Former Deputy Lloyd Shoemaker, 34, of the Temple City sheriff’s station showed no reaction as Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Richard Neidorf imposed the sentence for three counts of rape by threat to arrest and one count each of lewd conduct, battery and oral copulation under color of authority.
Neidorf also ordered Shoemaker, who resigned after a 10-year law enforcement career, to pay $10,000 to a victims restitution fund and undergo an AIDS test.
