Paper Recycling Standards Set: Two dozen environmental groups and businesses announced national standards for the recycled content of paper to counter confusion over manufacturers’ claims to recycled content. Conservatree Paper Co., apparel maker Patagonia, the Environmental Action Foundation, Greenpeace, the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund and others said their new ranking and labeling system would grade paper based on an objective standard. The conventional three-arrow recycling symbol on paper bags and other items will be updated to designate grades A, B or C, specifying the percentage of total recycled fiber.
