Tuchman Sues: Maurice Tuchman, who was shifted last Friday from his longtime position as curator of 20th-Century art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to a new job as senior curator of 20th-Century drawings, filed suit for damages Tuesday against LACMA director Michael Shapiro and the Museum Associates, the museum’s nonprofit corporation. Tuchman’s attorney, Hillel Chodos, said Wednesday that Tuchman wants to be restored to his position and title “until he voluntarily retires or does something to warrant his termination, which so far he has not done.” Tuchman said the reassignment decision was not discussed with him in advance. A museum spokesman refused comment, saying museum officials have not yet seen the lawsuit.
