In a potential breakthrough in the fight against doping, the world’s two major Olympic bodies agreed in Atlanta to join forces in applying the same drug-testing procedures and sanctions to all sports.
The International Olympic Committee and the Assn. of Summer Olympic International Federations also decided to work together in addressing another pressing problem--civil law suits filed by athletes such as Butch Reynolds.
IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch said he would meet in Washington on Monday with President Clinton, who, according to Samaranch, will open the 1996 Summer Games at Atlanta.
