THOUSAND OAKS : Park District May Raise Center Fees

The board of the Conejo Recreation and Park District on Thursday will consider raising fees for the use of its community centers and recreation sites by 5% to 10%.
Jesse Washington, administrator of recreation and community services, said the proposed rates reflect increased utility and maintenance costs.
Under the new fee structure, groups would be allowed to rent the large grass area or the entire facility at the new Conejo Creek North park near the Thousand Oaks Public Library.
Hourly rates at all ball and soccer fields would increase to $7 from $6.
The cost of renting Borchard Center for four hours would rise to $249 from the current $237, while four hours’ rental of the main hall at Goebel Senior Adult Center would increase to $158 from $150.
The largest increases of 10% would be for film crews on park property. Larger productions requiring the use of more than 21 vehicles and 41 people would go to $990 a day from the current fee of $900.
The district has been under severe pressure this year to cut its budget and lay off staff members because of cuts imposed by the state.
