Regarding “Back Before Punk Wore Flannel,” by Jonathan Gold (March 7):
“The awful Lovers of Today” is actually the song “Lovers of Today” by the wonderful group the Only Ones. Perhaps Gold isn’t so keen on the track because the Only Ones actually knew how to write songs and arrange them and play their instruments.
The Only Ones were heads and shoulders above their “D.I.Y.” competition in so many ways, and their inclusion is valid.
