The Little Tokyo Community Development Advisory Committee is accepting proposals for original art to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
The citizens advisory group will initially award five grants of $5,000 each to help the selected artists complete their works, which can be musical compositions, literature, media, choreography, visual or performance art.
One or more finalists will then be chosen for a $20,000 award to construct the work in a public location in Los Angeles in 1995.
Applications will be accepted from individuals and collaborative teams. The deadline for proposals is 4 p.m. April 30.
