The Last-Minute Tax Rush

Sixteen post offices in Los Angeles County will be open until midnight tonight for last-minute tax filers. Internal Revenue Service representatives will be at five locations to dispense forms and advice. Taxpayers can also call (213) 586-1463 or (213) 586-1467 for post offices with extended hours. Many libraries in the county have tax forms available. The IRS toll-free help line, (800) TAX-1040, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Post offices with extended hours are: Downtown Los Angeles
