Los Angeles police detectives on Thursday announced the arrest of a gunman in connection with the slaying of a 19-year-old Canoga Park man in a drive-by shooting.
The victim, Jaime Ramos, died March 30, a day after he was shot in the head by a passing motorist while riding in his cousin’s car on Topanga Canyon Boulevard at Wyandotte Street in Canoga Park, police said.
Detectives arrested Adam Ray Lopez, 19, of Canoga Park on Wednesday at a hardware store in Van Nuys where he worked, Detective Rick Swanston said. According to Swanston, Lopez admitted his involvement in the slaying and is being held on suspicion of murder.
No other suspects are being sought in connection with the shooting, Swanston said. Police located Lopez after determining that he was the owner of a 1970 red Chevy Monte Carlo that was seen by witnesses fleeing the area.
The slaying is believed to have been gang-related, Swanston said.
