Music a la Mode

In response to Boehm’s review of Depeche Mode, I offer a fan’s perspective. The new album is the most intense work the band has done since “Black Celebration” in ’86. That was the last time I was completely awed with an album of theirs upon first listening, until now. It only improves with repeated listenings.
Actually it might be nice if the majority of people disliked the new album as much as Boehm. We wouldn’t have to go see such personal music in such an impersonal setting as the Rose Bowl or Dodger Stadium.
