UNIVERSAL CITY : Cafe to Get License for Beer and Wine

Diners at the soon-to-open Wolfgang Puck Cafe in Universal City will be allowed to have wine with their pasta, and beer with their pizza, a city zoning administrator ruled Friday. Zoning administrator John Parker ruled in favor of Puck in granting a special permit to sell alcoholic beverages in a location where zoning regulations otherwise prohibit it.
“They are so well-buffered there, and far removed from any neighborhoods that would be diversely impacted,” said Parker.
Joan Wolff, an attorney for Puck Food Company, said the hearing went smoothly. “There was no one there in opposition--it was a pretty straightforward thing,” she said.
Puck’s cafe, slated to open in mid-June, will be one of several specialty restaurants in the Universal CityWalk development.
