THE GRAY FOX: He’s a former political activist described by police as “a well-dressed, elderly gentleman who looks just like anybody’s grandfather.” But he didn’t act like most grandfathers. . . . Police now say Edwin W. Loftus, 59, is the “Old Man Bandit” responsible for a four-year string of at least 30 armed robberies--mostly at Bank of America branches in the east San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale and San Gabriel (B1).
