LOS ANGELES : Japanese Consular Offices to Move From Little Tokyo

The Japanese consular offices in Los Angeles will move at the end of the summer from Little Tokyo to Bunker Hill, Consul Minoru Kikuchi said Tuesday.
Kikuchi said the move from the Sumitomo Bank building, where the consulate has been housed since 1968, to the 17th floor of the California Plaza building is based largely on the need for additional space.
He said the decision to leave Little Tokyo was a difficult one, but no suitable facilities could be found there for the staff of 47. Although a firm date has not been decided, the move is expected to be completed by September, Kikuchi said.
