PREP ROUNDUP : Fountain Valley Clinches Sunset Title

Brian Ponchak pitched a three-hitter as Fountain Valley defeated Westminster, 3-0, to clinch the Sunset League baseball championship Saturday at Westminster.

Fountain Valley (22-4, 13-1) won for the 15th consecutive time. A loss would have dropped the Barons into a first-place tie with Edison.

Westminster finished the season 12-13 and 5-9.

At the Southern Section gymnastics finals:

Powell third in all-around--Capistrano Valley’s Erin Powell finished first in the uneven bars with a score of 9.3, on her way to a third-place all-around finish at 36.5. Powell also finished second in the floor exercise at 9.4.
