Health Net Forms Electronic Network
Health Net, a large Woodland Hills-based health maintenance organization, has joined with three other health plans to form an electronic data network.
The network would establish computer linkages to speed the transfer of paperless transactions between health-care providers and payers. Similar to automated systems used in the banking industry, the network would expedite transmission of health-care data, such as billing and eligibility transactions, using standard formats.
The network, to be implemented early next year, is expected to reduce combined administrative costs for its users by up to $40 million annually.
Joining Health Net in the network are TakeCare, Blue Shield and PruCare of California.
