Long Beach : More Restrictive Hours for Leaf Blower Use Weighed
- Share via
The Long Beach City Council is considering a proposal to restrict the use of leaf blowers.
Concerned about noise, Councilman Douglas S. Drummond has proposed that the use of leaf blowers be restricted to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.
Current city law allows leaf blowers to be used between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. every day.
The council Tuesday referred the proposal to its Legislative Committee, which is composed of three council members. It is expected to consider the proposed restrictions in the next several weeks and make a recommendation to the entire council.
