For the first time, the city of Pasadena next month will install $1-an-hour parking meters in the Old Pasadena and Civic Center areas.
The City Council on Wednesday approved contracts totaling $517,000 to buy and install 1,120 parking meters. The meters are expected to generate about $1.5 million annually and will cost about $460,000 to maintain.
City officials have been working with merchants in Old Pasadena for more than a year to come up with a plan to help alleviate parking problems in the area, said Public Works Director Cynthia J. Kurtz.
