Valley Babe Ruth Team Wins, 13-4

The Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Babe Ruth all-star team advanced to today’s regional final by routing Elk Grove, 13-4, Friday at Elk Grove, near Sacramento.
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks had 17 hits and batted around twice.
In each of those innings--the first and fourth--Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks scored four runs. Six players had multiple hits, led by Chris Hebert, who was four for four with two doubles and four runs batted in.
Manny Mosqueda was three for five and scored three times. Eric Horvat, Bill Scott, Tom Salazar (two RBIs) and Edgar Nava (two doubles, three RBIs) each had two hits.
Gonzalo Gomez, who allowed two unearned runs and two hits in four innings, picked up his first all-star victory.
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks, 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the tournament, must beat undefeated Hollister twice today to win the title.
