Without Growth, Decay of Valley Will Set In
- Share via
* It was ironic that on Aug. 17 the Valley Business section was replete with advice to Mayor Richard Riordan on how over-regulation and anti-development policies are stifling the economy and future of the Valley, and Kurt Pitzer’s update on Calabasas (“Price Club Bid Withdrawn”) provided a perfect verification of these contentions.
It is a shame that those in positions of leadership of Valley communities obviously do not understand that there is no such thing as “slow” growth. All growth has its own innate pace. When impeded, it merely redirects or dies. (A tiny blade of grass working its way through a slab of concrete makes this obvious.)
Failure to renew and expand is called “blight” and property values reflect this phenomenon quickly. It is an inescapable law of nature that the minute growth stops, decay begins.
