Nation Removed From Unfair-Trading List: The United States removed Thailand from its list of unfair trading partners because the nation had taken steps to protect intellectual property rights, U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor said. “The Royal Thai government has made significant progress in resolving these longstanding issues,” Kantor said in a statement, adding that Thailand was taken off the “priority foreign country” trade list. It will now be on a priority watch list--a lower scale on the U.S. system that evaluates foreign compliance with trade laws and can lead to sanctions--and fall subject to another review early next year.
