Dow Jones & Co. to Launch ‘Personal Journal’: The publisher of the Wall Street Journal said it plans to launch the electronic publication to deliver custom news and information to executives on the go. The service is designed for the new generation of hand-held computers known as personal communicators. Beginning in the second quarter of next year, owners of some such devices will be able to plug them into a phone jack and receive Wall Street Journal news summaries as well as articles and financial information on topics of special interest to them. Personal Journal will initially be available for upcoming machines that use Microsoft’s personal communicator operation system. Dow Jones said the product will be the first in a series of electronic publications.
