A 15-year-old boy who authorities say is a gang member was charged Thursday with firing a semiautomatic pistol at two Los Angeles police officers who were attempting to question him about a possible curfew violation.
The youth, whose name was withheld because of his age, is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of attempted murder of a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Peggy Beckstand said the youth was riding a bicycle in Venice on Tuesday night when he was spotted by the officers, but ran when they tried to talk to him.
During a foot chase, he allegedly fired one shot at the officers, who did not return fire, Beckstand said.
