* Knowing what a struggle it is for the arts to grow in Ventura County, we read with interest recent news coverage of the Janss gift to the Alliance for the Arts to help fund the Civic Arts Plaza theater.
The Janss family, which has played such an important part in the history and direction of this region, is well known throughout Ventura County for its altruism in supporting many good causes. This $250,000 donation is an incredibly generous example.
The Civic Arts Plaza will add an exciting dimension to the diversity of county resources and will be a focal point for the performing arts in Ventura. The Janss’s gift will help give it a great start. Thanks to The Times for letting readers know philanthropy is alive and well in the arts.
