COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Hicks Makes Most of His Time Off
- Share via
UCLA freshman Skip Hicks used the weekend off after the San Diego State game to escape to his native Texas, his first weekend off campus since arriving on Aug. 8, and spent Saturday watching his alma mater, Burkburnett High, play.
Or trying to.
“I spent a lot of time signing (autographs),” he said.
Hicks rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown against Nebraska in the Bruins’ second game. But he sprained his ankle on the first play of the fourth quarter and has not played since. Hicks is doubtful for Saturday’s game against Brigham Young.

Linebacker Jamir Miller was sent home from practice to continue to recuperate from flu. Miller’s missing two practices in a row has cast doubt on his availability for the BYU game.
