Cablevision to Acquire Sutton Cable System: The country’s fifth-largest cable TV operator agreed to acquire Sutton Capital’s 175,000-subscriber cable TV system in Monmouth and Hudson counties in New Jersey for about $475 million. The proposed acquisition comes as Cablevision Systems is in discussions with telephone companies, including Denver-based US West, about selling all or part of itself. The purchase of Sutton’s northern New Jersey cable systems will give Cablevision, which already owns systems on Long Island and in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Newark, N.J., a dominant position in the New York cable market. Waller Capital represented Sutton in the deal.
