Seagram Increases Stake in Time Warner: The Canadian distiller said it has purchased 4.6 million shares of Time Warner Inc. common stock, increasing its share of the media conglomerate to 6.8%. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Montreal-based distiller and beverage maker said it has paid a total of $194.5 million for the stock. Seagram said it now holds 25.7 million Time Warner shares, up from 21.1 million shares, or 5.7%, in May. At that time, Seagram said it planned to buy up to 15% of Time Warner stock “solely for investment purposes.”
