STANTON : Advisory Panel OKd to Aid Crime Fight

The City Council decided Tuesday to form a Citizens Community Safety Advisory Committee to combat crime.
Councilman Sal Sapien, who proposed the committee, said he wants to fill it with some of the 17 people who recently applied for a vacant council seat.
“We had a tremendous group of people,” said Sapien, recalling the four hours of interviews on Oct. 13 with council applicants. Linda J. Pappas Diaz, a former planning commissioner, was appointed to fill the council seat vacated by Joe V. Harris.
The council will meet Nov. 10 to discuss the responsibilities of the safety committee.
