‘Annie Get Your Gun’ Cancels O.C. Dates

COSTA MESA — The producers of a national touring revival of “Annie Get Your Gun” have canceled its weeklong February engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, center officials said earlier this week.
The show, which had begun a 28-city tour in March, starred Cathy Rigby. The center was offering it as part of its 1993-94 subscription package of Broadway musicals.
“We’ll be announcing a replacement in two to four weeks,” a center spokesman said. “They canceled all the show’s West Coast engagements, not just ours.”
A spokeswoman for ATP/Dodger, the New York-based producer of the tour, said the show’s West Coast dates were dropped because a scheduled four-week engagement in San Francisco preceding the Costa Mesa stop had been canceled unexpectedly. That made a continuation of the tour financially unfeasible, she said.
Also dropped were stops in Palm Desert; Boise, Ida., and Spokane, Wash., and Seattle.
