THE SOUTHLAND FIRESTORM : DONATIONS : Businesses Provide Food or Firefighters

Conejo Valley businesses Thursday joined forces to provide food, beverages and physical therapy services to exhausted firefighters stationed at the Newbury Park command post.

Dole Food Co. was among the top donors, providing 26,000 bottles of juice. Other merchants providing aid included D & R Deli, Foster’s Donuts, Basso (beverages), Uniquely Yours (cookies) and the Body Focus gym.

“A lot of us were thinking last night about how we could help,” said Dyan Sage, membership coordinator for the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We came in this morning and started to get calls. It’s a community thing. There are a lot of concerned people, a lot of people ready and willing to help.”
