San Clemente’s Michelle MacIntyre, a Times All-County first-team selection in basketball, said Wednesday she has made an oral commitment to attend Hawaii.
“I guess I wanted a different culture and wanted to get out of California,” said MacIntyre, who told her coaches Tuesday. She said she will sign a letter of intent Wednesday. She chose Hawaii over Long Beach State.
The 5-foot-9 guard has started since her freshman season and averaged 17.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists last year.
MacIntyre’s 466 points last year broke San Clemente Coach Mary Mulligan’s single-season school scoring record.
