Sony Pictures Invests in HBO’s Latin American Channel: The company said it agreed to acquire a “substantial equity interest” in HBO Ole, a pay television channel owned by a partnership that includes Time Warner’s Home Box Office and Omnivision Latinamerican Entertainment. Under the deal, HBO, Sony and its partners on Feb. 1 will launch a Latin American Cinemax service that will air dubbed or subtitled films 24 hours a day. Plans for future projects include a general entertainment channel and a family channel.
