SANTA CLARITA / ANTELOPE VALLEY : Pipe Bomb Blast Damages RV

LANCASTER — No one was injured when a pipe bomb exploded beneath a recreational vehicle parked behind a Sierra Highway cafe, sheriff’s deputies said Sunday.
Deputies said they have no suspects and no motive in the case.
Rini Duzanne, 51, the vehicle’s owner, said that upon returning to her home about 7:45 p.m. Saturday she noticed that her rear left tires were flat and that the rear cabin of her vehicle had sunk to the ground. Inside, the bathroom toilet and shower were damaged, Duzanne said. She thought that the motor home had sunk because of the flattened tires.
The next morning, Duzanne noticed that her tires were not flattened but blown apart, and after seeing metal fragments underneath and around her vehicle she notified police.
An arson investigation team determined that a pipe bomb had caused the damage, estimated at $5,000.
