Constitutional Rights: Deal With It
* In your coverage of the Laguna Hills Symposium on Crime and Punishment (March 26), San Juan Capistrano Mayor Collene Campbell is quoted as saying, “We must make the voters understand who receives money . . . to defend the rights of these criminals.”
It ill becomes anyone, particularly a public official--no matter how egregious her personal hurt--to suggest denial to people of their constitutional rights by means of intimidation of their legitimate legal counsel.
Such strikes me as being more like lynch-mob psychology than American justice.
