A Beverly Hills dermatologist who lives in Ojai has offered to remove tattoos free of charge for low-income teen-agers in Ventura County.
Dr. Adrianna Scheibner, who has provided free tattoo treatment for hundreds of teen-agers, will be removing tattoos at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall in Oxnard on Aug. 12. The service is co-sponsored by the private, nonprofit group Interface Children, Family Services.
“It’s more than someone removing a tattoo,” said Martha Torres, an Interface spokeswoman. “It means that someone wants to change their lifestyle.”
Torres said many teen-agers regret getting tattoos because they get passed over for jobs later.
Torres said sponsors are targeting low-income youths, ages 12 to 21, with visible tattoos, particularly on necks, arms and hands. For customers 19 to 21 years old, a $25 donation is requested, she said.
Teen-agers who are interested in the service may call 485-9001 for information on how to register for the tattoo treatment. Parental permission will be required for juveniles.
