MILAN, Italy — Italian police were seeking the brother of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Wednesday after magistrates ordered his arrest for suspected corruption in the latest blow to the battered right-wing government.
The arrest warrant was issued as prosecutors examined allegations that tax examiners were bribed in exchange for approval of doctored books at Berlusconi’s firm Fininvest.
The whereabouts of Paolo Berlusconi, who heads the family’s property businesses, were unknown, but judicial sources speculated he might surrender today.
Paolo Berlusconi already faces trial in two other corruption cases.
