IRVINE : Funds Raised for Injured Boy’s Care

About $1,300 has been raised over the past three weeks to help pay the medical bills of Trent McGee, the 7-year-old boy who was severely hurt in a car accident July 11.
Trent remained in critical condition Monday.
He cannot breathe without a respirator and is paralyzed from the neck down, said Beth Rion, a member of the McGee family. He was moved to the Tustin Rehabilitation Hospital last week.
Trent was hurt when an allegedly stolen sports car broadsided his family’s station wagon at Irvine Center Drive and Jeffrey Road. The force of the crash pushed the station wagon against a traffic divider.
Trent’s mother, Cheryl McGee, and his 10-year-old sister were not hurt. Trent suffered multiple head injuries.
The driver of the allegedly stolen car, 31-year-old John Eric Phelps of Dana Point, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, evading arrest, grand theft auto and reckless driving.
The fund was set up at Great Western Bank, 3978 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92714. The account number is 1841864192.
