SAUGERTIES : Woodstock Redux

Twenty-five years after the original concert was held on Max Yasgur’s farm, Woodstock ’94 takes place near Saugerties, N.Y., in the Hudson Valley for three days beginning Friday. Promoters hope the event will be not only a reunion but attract the sons and daughters of the Woodstock generation. More than 30 bands plus a six-acre, interactive multimedia “Surreal Field,” aimed, according to Danny Socolof, its architect, at “the first postgraduates of Nintendo University.” Promoters also hope the rain and mud that marked the original concert will be missing.
